Shaping the Regulatory Environment
AFIDA serves as the primary interface between Africa’s fertilizer industry and policymakers at national, regional, and continental levels.
Continental Engagement
- Representing industry perspectives at African Union summits and technical working groups
- Contributing to the development of continental frameworks on agriculture, trade, and food security
- Aligning industry initiatives with the African Union's Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP)
- Participating in policy dialogues on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as it relates to fertilizer trade
Regional Collaboration
- Working with Regional Economic Communities (ECOWAS, SADC, EAC, COMESA, ECCAS) on harmonizing fertilizer regulations
- Advocating for reduced non-tariff barriers to fertilizer trade across borders
- Supporting regional frameworks that facilitate investment in fertilizer production and distribution
- Contributing technical expertise to regional agricultural policy development
How We Work
Policy change takes time. We maintain consistent engagement, building relationships that yield sustainable outcomes for industry and agriculture alike.
Evidence-Based Advocacy
We ground our policy positions in rigorous data, research findings, and industry experience. Every recommendation is backed by analysis and aligned with sustainable development principles.
Multi-Stakeholder Approach
We bring diverse voices to policy discussions—from multinational manufacturers to local SMEs, from organic producers to conventional suppliers—ensuring comprehensive industry representation.
Constructive Engagement
We position ourselves as collaborative partners to government, offering solutions rather than simply highlighting problems. Our approach builds trust and delivers results.
